when you hit the turkey woods what is in your arsonal in your vest. I cary several types of reed type mouth calls, friction glass and slate to box calls and push pulls.
from time to time if I get one that is hung up I can move around allitle and make it sound like my area is on fire while moving back to my setup. on several occasions I have drown a bird out of his funk with the real thing and got him in to my range. NO not a full proof stratagy but works from time to time

Gemerally, One short box, one long box. two pot calls, crow call, occasionally a trumpet or wingbone. Tube call sometimes and mouthcalls for sure.

I use crow and owl locators with no luck for locating, I will be hitting the turkey woods with a woodpecker call this spring.

I don't wear a vest. Haven't in a couple of decades. I wear a backpack, I can get more stuff in it. laugh Plus my collapsible decoys. When I get to my set-up spot, I slip out of it and lay it next to me on the ground where I can reach everything in it easily...including LUNCH! wink

yup I agree, if it works why change it. I stay prity persistant and stay out till the last min, you never know if you walk out early could be when one showes up, I had that happen to me before and when I notice one was out I was unable to get back in and around , got totaly busted and that was lesson number one.

I kinda had that happen to me in Florida. I came out a little early and there was a Gobbler standing near my truck on the dirt road through the WMA. Needless to say, he saw me before I saw him.

I kinda got it all whittled-down to the bare necessaries. One long-box, one short-box, granpa's 100 year old hand-made slate, and ShortSpur's pot-call. Oh, a couple of diaphrams too, don't care much for them though. Don't need any crow or owl calls, cain't beat the human mouth for those. Got it all in a shoulder-bag with two decoys and lunch.
Warren, two years ago I missed a bird at the truck also. He ran around the driver's side when he saw me walkin' back. I thought for a min. he had got in behind the steering-wheel!
